Q & A
Q: What's your favorite song with "blue" in the title and why?
BLUE JAY WAY by THE BEATLES
The Beatles were a constant soundtrack in my house growing up. So many definitive listening experiences, markers of time for me are associated with their music. as a kid, I always found this song to be beautiful and haunting. giving me all kinds of feels i didn't understand. as an adult, now living in Los Angeles- there's this dreamy quality to it. And something so specific to LA I find comforting.
Q: Is there a film that always makes you feel kinda blue?
So many! I'm kind of hooked on the catharsis films can provide. I chase it. My mom had me watch SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS as a remedy for my first break up in high school and it destroyed me, but I got to the other side faster than I would have without it. Most recently, the David Lowry film A GHOST STORY gutted me real good.
Q: Favorite comedy to help you get out of that mood?
A FISH CALLED WANDA. Love that one deeply -- it's like a balm.
Q: What is your most treasured blue possession?
My daughter was really into those plastic fake gems. The pre school she went to would bury them outside and all the kids were obsessed with finding "treasures." we have this fake blue diamond that we pass back and forth. she'll leave it by my door, or on my pillow when she thinks I need it. I'll keep it in my pocket when I'm working out of town, missing her.
Q: What shade of blue do you love most?
Cobalt blue. the fact that too much or too little can be fatal...I find kind of romantic.
Q: Do you love being near the Ocean?
I love the immediate perspective shift the ocean can give. I always breathe better on a beach. very much looking forward to some beach time when we wrap in a couple weeks....
