I had the pleasure of spending time with my longtime client and friend, Keri Russell, on Emmy day 2018. Along with doing her makeup, chatting, and laughing, we got a call from her daughter Willa. Willa was not only sending her love, but she also wanted to spy on the beauty process as she Face Timed with her mom.
Willa loves to explore the latest lip colors with me, and try new hairstyles, which usually include a flower. That little beauty has some of the best style around town!
Speaking of flowers, they were everywhere in Keri’s room. She had gotten up super early, after just a little sleep, and bought some of her favorite Tuberoses after just flying in from filming in London. Keri had just gotten over a bout of food poisoning - but there she was, prepping for the Emmys, as cool as ever.
She felt at peace with the fact that no matter what the night would bring, she was satisfied to have been included with a powerful, extremely talented group of female nominees. As she has said, “It’s a good time to be a woman.”
The list of qualities that I adore and respect about this woman could go on and on. Her beauty is obvious, and I’m grateful to have gotten to know the incredible beauty beneath the surface of this awesomely talented and kind human.
Even on the rather nerve racking day that is “pre-Emmys,” she generously let me take a few videos and pics, as she supports my passion for photography. Though she doesn’t participate in the all-consuming world of social media, she knows I enjoy the visuals of Instagram.
When she’s not working, I think she’d prefer to spend time with her family and good friends, rather than posting on social platforms.
Matthew Rhys, her love, couldn’t have said it better — “I don’t have the words, I don’t have the time, neither which would do you justice, Keri Lynn, except thank you ….more to come.”
Yes. Keri Russell - a million thank yous.
